You’re looking for someone to lead the charge in building compelling, informative content, and you’ll undoubtedly find some capable applicants. Generating truly original content takes creativity, but many creatives aren’t open to optimizing afterward. Simply put, I’m KPI-minded, but on a foundation of imagination and innovation. I want the analysis, but I also want the freedom to explore content paths distinct from your competitors. Without that exploration, you’ll forever follow those willing to fail.
I’m also a doer, and tend to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. Of course this won’t be the case my first week on the job, but superfluous process is the main bottleneck to production in any marketing department. You don’t become a game changer without a “bias for action,” and I’m unabashedly prejudice when it comes to talking vs. walking.
Ultimately, I want to create content that resonates with your target audience, and properly reflects the Thumbtack brand. I’ll work to focus messaging on your audience’s core concerns, then continually optimize it through analytics. I call this “distillation”—taking the various insights from your marketing team, then running them through the context of the market to produce an influential message. With your message in its most potent form, you launch, then continually test to improve your product.
What I’m pointing out here is a shared foundation on which we create content. Thumbtack’s existing work shows me you value quality, human-oriented messaging, and that messaging tells me you have a vested interest in the success of your partners. I believe that shared, creative underpinning will allow me to hit the ground running at Thumbtack, which is exactly what I’m looking to do.
